Self-help books of all time to have in your library

There are so many genres of books and we all love different books depending on many factors such as romance, thriller, and horror among others. But there is one set of genres liked by many; those are self-help books. These books help in personal motivation, encouragement, and development. Apart from self-help book lovers, some don’t consider it their choice because they believe personal growth can only happen from within. So they are somehow controversial sets of books but are still widely read by the masses. Here is the collection of those self-help books which you can add in your library.

The Alchemist – The book The Alchemist, written by Paulo Coelho, is a classic novel that talks about a boy named Santiago who embarks on a journey to reach the treasure in the country of Egypt. Santiago, a young and daring Andalusian shepherd, is troubled by a reoccurring dream. A kid advises him in his dream to go for treasure near the Egyptian pyramids. On his journey he met with many people, including mentors, and then fell in love and learned the importance of who he is and how to improve himself and focus on what really matters rather than trivial issues.

One of the beautiful quotes from the book is that “When you want something, all the universe conspires to help you achieve it.”

Atomic Habits – The book is written by James Clear. The readers of the book say that it is a one-stop guide to breaking lousy behavior and adopting a good attitude in just four steps. It encourages change every day and grows. Readers shared a few takeaways, such as every time we perform a habit, we execute a four-step pattern that is a cue, craving, response, and reward.

The second learning is that if we want to form new habits, we should make them obviously attractive, easy, and satisfying. Other than that, One can use a habit tracker as a fun way to measure your progress. As James mentioned in the book, Habits are the compound interest of self-improvement.

Thinking Fast and Slow – The book was written by Daniel Kahneman and talked about two systems in the brain that are constantly fighting to control the behavior and actions of an individual. It teaches an individual how to control and minimize errors, judgment, and decisions because of the two systems.

One of the best takeaways from the book is that the brain is lazy and thus restraints an individual from using his total capacity. As the book quotes, nothing in life is as important as you think about it.

The Four agreements-  The book is written by Don Miguel Ruiz and revolves around a tradition of Toltecs, an ancient indigenous people of Mexico. It depicts how they domesticate children, presents guiding rules, and tells what an individual can do to break or replace a new set of agreements.

As the authors portray that four agreements can be used to transform and experience life and joy. In the book, one of the quotes that were liked by many readers was, “Death is not the biggest fear we have, but it is taking the risk to be alive and express what we really are.”
